That's what scares me about the X-Box 360. When the first X-Box came out, I was one of the first ones to get it. Turned out mine is one of the ones that has the sh1tty dvd drive that won't play some games like Morrow wind.My X-Box died and it's garbage. My brother gave me his as he doesn't use it and now it's on the fritz. If it weren't for some of the exclusive games, I wouldn't even consider this system as an option.
There's another EETimes article were they say the tried to cut costs by designing the Graphics chip themselves which ended up backfiring and costing them $1 Billion.
My Xbox360 hasn't failed yet, but has proper ventilation.
Apparently there were three versions of the dvd drive. I was one of the unlucky ones. My brother's came from the same batch.
1 billion? Holy sh1t!!! That's a lot of development money. And it didn't work? Wtf?
1 Billion to extend the warranties (i.e. replace all the bad ones). But according to a lot of friends (some have returned 7!!!) I think they are just recycling the old xboxes.
Alberto you are the only person I personally know with a 360 that has not failed. Mine has issues
What kind of issues?
My nic is dead, I have to use wireless now. Mario just got his back, the mobo died, John next doors video died and the DVD wouldnt open.
That's messed up! I think MS plans on a low shelf life with their products. Any issues with the Wii or Playstation?
Interesting background from Xbox old boss about the failures
