Simple songs that trip you up?

#1

I am constantly amazed at songs a newbie could play, but I struggle with even 30 years later. I am making it a point to master every one I come across from here on out…
Some ones I can now proudly play:
Def Leppard - Foolin (intro)
Def Leppard - Bringin on the Heartbreak (intro)

Do you guys struggle with simple songs?

Oh I thought of another one for the list…that fucking chord in the chorus of Brown Eyed Girl that makes my fingers seem retartded.

I’ve come to the conclusion that there are no simple songs. A lot of it comes down to getting the feel of what sounds simple. I was talking to someone about playing some Hendrix and he said that he couldn’t find any video on youtube where the person nails it.
One thing that surprised me is that singing over the guitar parts helps me to figure out tunes easier. Things make more sense as far as arrangements and timing goes when you know the vocal parts as well. That helped me a lot with “Interstate Love Song.” A simple tune that kicks my ass is the acoustic version of Radiohead’s “Creep.” Doing suspended chords while barring in the low position fatigues my hands fast.

You mean that E minor thing at :44?..that used to drive me nuts too.

This is the only guy I’ve seen who really nails it

I knew you were going to say that. Rain man could play that you know. All you had to do was pay him but instead you ran him out of town.
